If you're anything like me, you've no doubt tried pretty much every diet out there but with little or no success. What makes diets fail so miserably? So many "weight loss gurus" still preach the myth that dieting by eating less will result in weight loss. In reality when we eat a lot less than we need we run the risk of actually gaining weight. Your body is designed to interpret less food intake with starvation. When we constantly eat less we trigger our body's starvation preservation mode.
Research tells us that people who are able to maintain a healthy weight normally eat have diets that are made up from plenty of complex carbohydrates (like vegetables, wholegrains etc) and people who are overweight consume diets that are high in fat and starchy carbs. Understanding what studies tell us about what contributes to weight loss is important when designing a weight loss plan. One of the best ways to lose weight fast is to start a low carb diet where you are careful about how many high GI carbohydrate you consume every day, but are less restrictive about the other foods. Don't see this as an excuse to overeat, as you still need to watch quantities, by keeping your portion sizes down, and make sure you get a good combination of healthy nutritious foods which should also be low in saturated fats.
Chances are there are habits that contributed to the weight gain and our weight increase didn't happen over night but rather over a period of months or even years. Because it took a long time to gain the weight, you should allow some time to get back to your normal weight. The people who are unable to comprehend the balance between eating right, taking in enough water, exercising and getting proper amounts of sleep are easy prey to the marketing companies pushing the new fad diet, lose weight pill or quick weight loss program. You don't need to look far to find the latest fad diet or weight loss program. As we live in a world where we want everything now, it's much easier to think (or even believe) that a magic does exist that can burn off fat virtually overnight, than to believe that we have the ability to improve our lives and live healthier longer lives where being overweight and unhealthy is in the dim and distant past.
Diets will fail because they do not promote a healthy balance within your body. Diets simply don't work because some are structured towards making someone or some company money rather than making a product or system that will actually encourage an individual to lose weight.
Everybody is telling us that individuals who are overweight are at increased risk of illnesses and other life threatening health problems owing to obesity. Saturated fat consumption is a major contributor to surplus body fat.
People have been led to believe for too many years that they need to cut down on food or rigorously count calories in the hope that they will shed those excess pounds. In actual fact our bodies know how to manage weight if we give our bodies what they need to stay healthy - like making sure you get plenty of rest, plenty of water, good and nutritious foods, and regular exercise.
Getting rid of those extra pounds is not just about calorie counting, you should also not overeat. Proper portions of wholesome foods are vital to losing weight. Another key to losing weight is not leading a sedentary life but one that involves giving your body the daily physical activity that it craves. Our bodies respond well to physical exertion!
